This past year, I've had a sudden and piqued interest in learning my culture and mother tongue, and two things have been instrumental in this journey: Your essays and Mugithi.
I'm currently obsessed with George Wanjaro's songs.
I am so honored to have been a part of your cultural awakening. This is exactly why I write. I love Wanjaro too. I weep for my ex as I sing along to Adress by him
Kimemia!!!!! You have done it again. This is one is one of the most hilarious things that I have read in a long time. I was laughing out loud.🤣🤣🤣🤣. Very well written, very well explained and as a novice to mugithi music I am sold: Hook, line and sinker. I want to find the album and listen to every song. You make such an appealing case for the brilliance of the minds behind these pieces of art and music. Personally, I am scared to actually listen to it right now because I tend to become obsessed and I am not ready to start explaining to my husband why Kikuyu dance music is blasting in the house and complementing my father in law's playlist. Your feedback means so much to me Clare. Thankyou!
So glad you found it hilarious. I’ve been laughing at this album for so long akiii. I’ll look for you we listen to the album and I really hope you get as obsessed as I am
Karibu sana. Yes please. I would like for us to connect over mugithi in the background as you explain to me some rich Kikuyu Wisdom. Honestly, it's a privilege for myself, fellow tribes men and all of culture to have a resource like you reminding us of our beautiful roots, where we came from, our unsung and sung heroes ...😂... See what I did there...
This is so refreshing. I grew up listening to them because of my dad. I have learnt so much.
Which of them do you prefer?
